The Dr. Pedro Oiarzabal, of the University of Nevada at Reno, will be hosting at the Basque Cultural Center of South San Francisco a Basque Film Series.

He will introduce the films and also will explain more contextual info about the directors and on the historical context. Next, a discussion, moderated by him, will be carried out.

The works `Badaezpada´ by Peio Varela and `Txakurkalea´ by David Cívico and Guillermo Sánchez were presented at New York Independent Film and Video Festival.

The Independent Film and Video Festival has recently taken place at New York and three basque filmmakers have been there showing their works to the world.

For a culture to survive it must be transmitted from generation to generation. If effective means of doing this are not found, then a culture dissipates and soon disappears. The Ikasi (to learn) - Irakatsi (to teach) Basque Cultural Literacy Project is aimed at developing and implementing some effective methods to sustain "Basqueness:" Basque culture and identity.

"You cannot give what you do not have." Many of us want to give to younger generations a sense of Basqueness (Basque culture & identity) because we want to share what we have and what we have appreciated.

Come and listen to the man from Ireland who has been studying and visiting the Basque Country for over 30 years.

His insight into all the Basque regions, not only Guipuzcoa, Vizcaya, and Alaba, but also Navarre and the Basque Regions on the French side are amazing. He gives pros and cons that frequently evade us, but at the end we learn a lot !

Once or twice a year the Autonomous Basque Government of Euskadi sponsors a cultural tour to provide our communities an opportunity to experience some of the latest work of Basque entertainers.

In Dec. 2007 the Basque txalaparta and duo of Iñaki Plaza & Ion Garmendia gave us quite a show.

In conjunction with the 2008 NABO Convention/Chino Basque Club 40th anniversary, there will be a tribute to all players (past & present|living & deceased) of the "Klika in America" that embraces Bakersfield, Chino, San Francisco & now Rocklin.

All together we'll celebrate this unique Basque tradition.

Udaleku, the Basque culture camp, will be held in Buffalo, WY on June 15 through June 27.

Udaleku participants will have the opportunity to learn Pelota, Pala, Basque Dancing, Txistu, Mus, Euskera, and Basque Singing.
