A Basque in Boise
Home away from home

A couple of days ago I was all ready, set, go to start my IKEA story (Mike and I are huge fans of the IKEA stuff. I know in Europe, or at least in Spain -although it might just be my family, really- their furniture is not that highly regarded), but my friend Igor caught me on the Messenger for like a long time, and messed up the moment. So there, I don't feel like talking about IKEA anymore. Instead, I'll talk about me, yeah!!

When my friend and his boss decided to open this blog for me they did tell me that I could write as often or as infrequently as I wanted, but I am sure they didn't mean for me to take like a three month break after my first two posts.  To tell you the truth, I am just lazy. I do have things to say, but I have so little practice into writing them down that it really takes a lot of effort for me to sit down and just do it.  But I guess today is different.

So I guess it was time I gave you an update on my iPhone troubles. Last time I left you wondering whether I would have to fork out the $400 for a new iPhone or whether Mike could work his magic with the Mac Genius. And well, he did (although he didn't have to try that hard, the Genius pretty much handed him a new iPhone without making any fuss). I was so grateful when Mike called me... Even though he was quite pissed with me because the trip to the Apple store made him late for his meeting and there was a big-ass storm and blah blah blah... But ever since I have told him I love him at least once a day. Now comes the sad part (AGAIN!!)

This is my first post in my brand-spanking new blog. KAIXO!! So obviously, you don't know that, aside from having kids, being from the Basque Country but living in Boise, I am also the biggest gadget freak you'll ever meet (see picture above, then keep reading, I don't have that smile anymore!).

Until recently I owned my MacBook, my Razr, my iPaq, and bunch of iPods. But at the beginning of September I traded all of it (well, not my laptop) for a sweet, sleek, new, amazing iPhone. I was on top of the world. I would have had a hard time deciding what to take to a desert island if I had to choose between my kids and my iPhone (just kidding!, what kind of amatxu do you guys think I am?).

Some background
My name is Henar Chico, although most people here call me Chico because it's easier to pronounce. I'm from Bilbao, but I have lived in Boise, ID since 1996. My husband is American, born and raised here in Boise, and we have two little kids, Andoni and Maitane, who are lucky enough to live in the only state in the US that has (among other things) an Ikastola with teachers from the Basque Country.
